Sustainability Policy

Purpose

Recommendation 1.4 of the Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance 2012 recommends that the Board should ensure that the company’s strategies promote sustainability. The Board should formalise the company’s strategies on promoting sustainability. Attention should be given to environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) aspects of business which underpin sustainability. Balancing ESG aspects with the interests of various stakeholders is essential to enhancing investor perception and public trust. The Board should ensure the company discloses these policies and their implementation in the annual report and the corporate website.

Objectives

WZ Satu Berhad (the “Company” or “WZ”) is committed to promoting sustainability. At WZ, we are committed to continually improving the integration of sustainability into our working environment and business processes. We are committed to accountability and transparency in our sustainability performance. Our Sustainability Policy is based upon the following principles:-

  • To comply with, and exceed where practicable, all applicable legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
  • To integrate sustainability considerations into all our business decisions.
  • To promote and ensure that all staff are fully aware of, and are committed to, implementing and measuring sustainability activities by considering the ESG factors.
  • To review, annually report, and to continually strive to improve our sustainability performance.

Sustainability Position

To operate with sustainability, we focus our activities on the following key impact areas:-

➢  Environment
To ensure operations and services are safe for our employees, customers and that environmental quality considerations are incorporated into WZ’s daily business activities which are undertaken and accountable by every employee.

➢  Social
To create an inspiring workplace that helps to build a diverse work force which contributes to highest potential and commits to a harassment free working environment, where every staff is treated fairly and with respect.

➢  Governance
To adhere to the requirements of all laws and regulatory requirements, standards and better practices to which the Company subscribes and established and adopt high ethical values and ensure these practices are upheld across the business.

Measurable Objectives and Reporting

As and when necessary, the Senior Management Team will discuss with the Executive Directors on the measurable objectives and its progress to date towards achieving business sustainability for subsequent endorsement by the Board of WZ. The Board is at liberty to seek to improve one or more aspects of its sustainability and measure progress accordingly.

Disclosure

Reporting and disclosures will be made in the corporate governance section of the Annual Report of WZ.

Review of the Policy

This Policy shall be reviewed periodically by the Executive Directors and is shared with stakeholders through our corporate website and other channels as appropriate.

Revision to the Policy

Any requirement for amendment shall be deliberated and any recommendation for revision shall be highlighted by the Chief Executive Officer to the Board for approval.
